Positionality
I’m a Latina, able-bodied woman born and raised in Brazil. My home country’s heritage has shaped my worldview and improved my ability to work across differences. My journey as an immigrant in the United States has prompted me to actively engage in dialogues that explore the nuances of belonging, cultural identity, and the complexities of the immigrant experience. Embracing my queerness has heightened my sensitivity to gender dynamics and the ongoing struggle for equal rights. At work, I leverage my intersecting identities to bring new perspectives that enrich processes and deliver results.
What energizes me?
My family is my grounding force; together, we cherish cooking, exploring the outdoors, and engaging in physical activities.
The thrill I find in gardening and nurturing my mini-farm, alongside the mindful consideration of my ecological footprint, informs my dedication to sustainable and thoughtful design solutions.
My Reiki practice further enriches my understanding of healing justice and balance, principles I weave into every project to promote harmony and well-being.
Recently, I've been exploring the meditative arts of cyanotype prints and ukulele playing, which have opened new avenues for creativity and mindfulness for me.
Being a part of Batalá, an Afro-brazilian community drumming band, reinforces my belief in the power of collective joy and rhythm, energizing my commitment to collaborative and community-focused projects.
